UV LED Inks

UV LED inks differ from traditional UV free radical inks in their formulation. Special consideration of photoinitiators and pigments in the formulation must be made to match the spectral output of the LED lamps. These special photoinitiators absorb at a higher wavelength as opposed to traditional photoinitiators and are typically more expensive. The spectral output of a LED lamp to cure UV LED inks is very narrow, 365 - 405 nm, as compared to a UV mercury system which operates from 200 - 700 nm range.
 

UV LED Curing

Because of the limited spectral wavelength, UV LED primarily operates in the UV-A zone and considered to be 'safe' because it is closest to visible light. However, prolonged exposure to
this energy can be dangerous. The UV-B and much of the UV-C spectrums of light are primarily used for germicidal and
sterilization purposes. Light produced at these wavelengths are not only harmful to microorganisms, but are also dangerous to humans and other forms of life that may come in contact with it.
 
Notice in application:
1. Emulsion need to be adjusted the stir evenly.
2. Screen must be thoroughly cleaned.
3. Must be dry when drying.
4. Exposure time 35-45 seconds, exposure effect is not good enough to extend 10 seconds to 15 seconds
5. Want to durable,must expose two times.
Characteric:  
  1,Sensitivity:Sensitive wavelength between 340-440 nm.  
  2,Photographic film and screen to glue is firm, has certain elasticity, bridge and high sensitivity.  
3,Film has high strength and abrasion resistance, resistance rate must be high.
  4,Water development, easy to stripping.
Classification: Emulsion with gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene acetate as colloid, such as using diazonium salt as sensitizer (sensitizer).With high solution as force, plate-making graphic clarity, resistance rate is high.  
1,Solvent based:Suitable for oily ink printing, mainly used in electronic, metal, plastic, LCD, etc.
  2,Water based: Suitable for water-based ink, mainly used in textile printing industry. 
 3,Solvent and water based: To adapt to the water-based ink and oily. Give priority to with oily, such as water-based ink printing impression is limited, not resistant to print. Main choice according to the nature of the ink, such as electronic industry seal glue, use water-based photosensitive slurry.
Principle of making screen: Emulsion under ultraviolet light, through the effect of sensitizing agent, crosslinking curing. No photosensitive part, expanding under the influence of water solubility. The enhancement in consistent film negative graphic, used for printing.
Keeping :The best storage conditions: temperature 15-20 ºC, relative humidity of 55-60%, avoid light preservation.

Applications

  1. UV-A type devices have been traditionally used in applications such as counterfeit detection or validation (currency, identification documents, etc). The actual wavelengths used are in the 390 nm - 420 nm range. As a result, these type of LED's are readily available from a variety of sources and are considered the least expensive.
  2. The middle UV-A LED area 350 nm - 390 nm are for curing both commercial and industrial materials such as adhesives, coatings and inks. There are many advantages over traditional curing technologies due to increased efficiencies and lower cost of ownership. Although the cost of this technology is greater, advances in manufacturing and demand are driving prices down.
  3. The lower UV-A and upper UV-B ranges 300 nm - 350 nm are the most recent introduction to the marketplace. These units can be used in a variety of applications including UV curing and biomedical applications. There is
a significant overlap in all three of the UV spectrum ranges, so consideration must be made in what is best for the application.
  1. The lower UV-B and upper UV-C ranges 250 nm - 300 nm, is still in it's early development stage. However, there is a great interest in these LED's in air and water purification systems.

Usage
Step 1, Clean the substrate and print it until dried. 
Step 2, Mixing the reducer with ink 3% to 5%.
Step 3, Printing the ink with semi-automatic or automatic screen printing machine by 200mesh to 350mesh.
Step 4, Dry the printed object by UV-LED cured machine wave length 395um, power depend on the ink color and thickness.

Store
  1. Keep dry and seal, stay far away from fire and heating.
  2. Seal the package if could not use out in one time.
  3. Due to sunlight and lamplight with UV, avoid light anytime and anywhere.
